Turn your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch into an ever-changing art gallery, which can also show you the time in your windowless office. Choose sources and themes for photographs, and throughout the day and night youll be shown photos tagged with that theme which were taken at approximately your current time of day based on the sun.

Specify a pool of photos for PictaChron to use. Choose your own photo albums if you like. Or search Flickr, 500px, or Instagram (with login) for tagged photographs. Only photos with time and location data can be used, so not all images from your albums or these sites will be shown.

In many past cultures, hours were counted from sunrise to sunset, and the length of an hour varied from season to season. It is this view of time which PictaChron uses. So near sunset where ever you are, summer or winter, you should see photos taken near sunset. At your midnight youll see pictures taken in the middle of the night. At midday youll get pictures with short shadows, and long shadows in the afternoon.

Photographs marked as NSFW are not included, and only "safe" Flickr photos are shown.

PictaChron only uses your Instagram login in order to be able to access Instagram search APIs. No personal data or relationships are being used.
